Mawon’s Huts Foundation

Signage | Interpretation Signs

This Mawson’s Huts Foundation Interpretation Signs Project was undertaken for a nonprofit charity established in 1996 with the goal of conserving the historic and fragile wooden huts of Hobart. In this endeavor, we fashioned the building sign for the Mawson’s Huts Replica Museum, utilizing built-up acrylic letters affixed to a painted backing board. Additionally, we employed wrapped aluminum panels to produce interpretive panels that vividly recount the story of Antarctic Heritage.

Interpretation Signage holds the power to effectively communicate a message, whether it involves a historic project, a tourist destination, a walking trail, or an environmental area. This is where our expertise comes in.

The Museum’s construction served a dual purpose: to raise funds for the continuous conservation of the historic buildings at Cape Denison, which played a pivotal role as the main base for the 1911-14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE). Strategically located on the Hobart waterfront, just 200 meters from the departure point of Mawson’s expedition in 1911, the Replica fulfills not only an educational role but also passionately champions the legacy of the AAE.
