Signage | Interpretation Signage | Routing & Fabrication
Set along the riverside landscape of Spreyton, the Spreyton Connector Interpretive Signage forms part of a broader public pathway experience designed to connect community, place and story. Delivered for Devonport City Council, this project required a robust, long-term solution that would sit confidently within a natural environment while supporting clear interpretation and wayfinding.
Fabricated Corten Plinth System
The Spreyton Connector Interpretive Signage project delivers a durable and visually strong solution for a public riverside environment. Delivered for Devonport City Council, this project combines structural fabrication, long-term performance and clear community storytelling within a cohesive outdoor signage system.

Fabricated Corten Plinth System
Flying Colours Group designed and fabricated a suite of freestanding plinth signs built to perform in coastal conditions. We constructed each structure around a heavy-duty duragal RHS internal frame to ensure strength and stability. This internal system supports the outer steel shell and allows the signage to withstand weather exposure and public interaction over time.
We finished each plinth with precision-cut 2mm Corten steel faces. Corten was selected for both durability and appearance. Over time, it develops a natural patina that helps the signage sit comfortably within the landscape while maintaining strong visual impact.
Our fabrication team cut, folded and aligned all steel components with tight tolerances. Clean joins and sharp edges ensure consistency across the entire suite. We engineered horizontal joins carefully to maintain strength while preserving a seamless appearance across larger panels.
We integrated baseplates and fixing systems directly into the fabrication process. As a result, installation remained efficient and structurally secure.

Integrated Interpretive Panels
We mounted interpretive graphics onto ACM substrates and precision-fitted them within the steel framework. This approach ensures flush alignment, durability and ease of maintenance. The printed panels deliver clear storytelling; however, the fabrication drives the project’s long-term performance.
Built for Long-Term Public Use
This project demonstrates Flying Colours Group’s ability to deliver engineered, purpose-built signage systems. We combine structural design, material knowledge and in-house manufacturing to create signage that performs reliably in demanding outdoor environments.
The final result is a cohesive interpretive system that supports community connection while standing strong for decades.
